BROWN OATMEAL BREAD 
1 heaping c. oatmeal
4 tbsp. shortening
1/2 c. molasses
2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. white sugar

Over this mixture pour 2 cups boiling water and let stand until lukewarm. Add 1 package of dry yeast which has been dissolved in 1/3 cup lukewarm water and 1/2 teaspoon sugar. Mix well and add 5 1/2 cups white flour and knead well. Let rise until double in size, one time only. Shape into 4 small round loaves. Put on greased pie tins. Let rise again. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes at 350 degrees.
