1 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 c. light molasses
2 tbsp. vinegar
1 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tbsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. salt

Mix together butter and sugar. Add the remaining ingredients and mix well. Spread dough. Form gingerbread men by cutting with cookie cutter. (May be helpful to refrigerator dough for a while before cutting. I've always used this recipe with children at school and stored in refrigerator to use the next day.) Bake in greased pan at 375 degrees until done. Decorate with powdered sugar and milk icing and whatever else kids want to use. (This is delicious and a fun activity at Christmas.)
