SHIPWRECK CASSEROLE 
1 med. onion, chopped
2 med. potatoes, grated
2 carrots, grated
1/2 c. celery, grated
1/2 to 1 c. cabbage, grated
1 can pork and beans, kidney beans or green beans (optional), drained
1/4 c. raw rice
1 lb. ground beef, raw, crumbled

Grease a 1 1/2 to 2 quart casserole dish. Layer the above ingredients in thin layers. Season with salt and pepper between each layer. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 1/2 hours. First 1/2 hour bake covered.
