SWEET SOUR CABBAGE 
Cut into pieces 1/3 head large red cabbage (green works OK, too). Blanch cabbage 2 minutes in boiling water; drain well. Combine:

1/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. water
1/4 c. vinegar
2 tbsp. bacon grease
6-8 c. cabbage

Add above to drained cabbage and simmer 15 minutes to 1 hour until juice is gone.
