FRESH APPLE COOKIES 
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. ground cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. butter
1 1/3 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1 c. apple, chopped fine and unpeeled
1 c. nuts, chopped

Sift first 6 ingredients together. Cream butter; add sugar gradually. Mix well. Add egg; beat until fluffy. Alternately add sifted dry ingredients and milk. Mix in fruit and nuts. Drop from teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. Makes about 10 dozen. Frost with Vanilla Icing.

VANILLA ICING:

2 c. powdered sugar
1 tbsp. soft butter
1 tsp. vanilla
3 tbsp. hot cream

Combine all ingredients. Beat until smooth.
