BREAD AND BUTTER PICKLES 
1 gallon cucumbers (about 8), sliced
8 sm. onions, sliced
2 lg. peppers, sliced
1/2 c. salt

SYRUP:

5 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. celery seed
1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
2 tbsp. mustard seed
5 c. vinegar

Place cucumbers, onions and peppers in pot, adding salt. Cover with ice cubes nd let them stay for about 3 hours or more.

Drain cucumbers, peppers and onions. Mix in pot with syrup ingredients and bring everything to a boil. Put into hot jars.
