MARIE'S FRUIT COOKIES 
1/2 c. butter
1 c. brown sugar
1 egg, beaten
1 3/4 c. sifted flour (save 1/4 c. to coat fruit & nuts)
1 c. candied cherries, chopped
3/4 c. chopped pecans
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 c. buttermilk
1 c. chopped dates

Sift flour, salt and soda. Cream butter and sugar. Stir in egg. Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk. Coat nuts and fruit with flour. Add to batter. Drop by teaspoonful on cookie sheet. Bake for 15 minutes at 350 degrees.
