1 c. vinegar
2 c. water
8 c. sugar
3 tsp. cloves and allspice
2 sticks cinnamon, if desired
8 lbs. peaches (clingstone is best)

Mix vinegar, water, sugar and spices. Bring to a boil, drop in whole fresh peaches. Simmer peaches 5 minutes, then pack in warm, clean jars and pour syrup over them. Seal and store in cool place.
