HUNGARIAN GOULASH | |
2 lbs. boneless beef, cut into 1 inch cubes 2 tbsp. shortening 2 c. sliced onion 1 c. chopped green pepper 1 tbsp. paprika 1 tsp. caraway seed 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. pepper 1 lb. can tomatoes 3 c. and 2 tbsp. water 2 c. cubed potatoes 2 tbsp. flour Brown beef in hot shortening in dutch oven or large skillet. Add onion, green pepper, paprika, caraway seed, salt, pepper, tomatoes and 3 cups water. Cover, and simmer 1 1/2 to 2 hours, until meat is tender. Add potatoes and cook 30 minutes longer, until tender. Combine flour and 2 tablespoons water; add to thicken mixture. |
