BLUEBERRY GRUNT 
1 qt. blueberries
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. water
1 c. all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. vegetable shortening
1/3 to 1/2 c. milk

1. Combine blueberries, 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup water in Dutch oven. Heat to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer covered until juice is released from berries, about 5 minutes.

2. Mix flour, baking powder, 1 teaspoon sugar and the salt. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in enough of the milk to make a soft dough. Spoon dough onto hot blueberries. Simmer covered over medium heat 15 minutes. (Do not lift cover while cooking.) Serve warm.

TIP: Frozen blueberries can be substituted for the fresh. Pat thawed blueberries dry with paper toweling.
