KOSHER DILL PICKLES 
21 c. water
1 c. white sugar
7 c. white vinegar
1 c. plain salt
Pickling cucumbers
Garlic, fresh dill, and alum

Fill sterilized quart jars with cucumbers, 1 clove garlic, 1 head dill, and 1/4 teaspoon alum. Bring water, sugar, vinegar, and salt to a boil. Fill jars with brine. Put on lids and seal. Put filled jars in sink or large container with hot water (from the tap) to the neck of jar. Leave overnight. Store in cool place and leave for 6 weeks before opening. Small dill size cukes are best!
