TOAD - IN - THE - HOLE (ENGLISH) 
Yorkshire pudding batter (recipe follows)
Pork sausages
2 oz. lard

Make the batter and refrigerate. Heat the lard in a roasting tin or oven proof dish, until very hot. Add the sausages and cook in a hot oven, 450 degrees for 10 minutes. Remove from oven, turn the sausages over and pour in the batter. Return to hot oven for approximately 30 to 45 minutes until batter is completely cooked. Serve with mashed potatoes and vegetables. YORKSHIRE PUDDING BATTER:

4 oz. all purpose flour
Pinch salt
1 egg
10 oz. milk or milk and water

In a blender mix flour and salt, make a well in the center and add the egg. Add half the liquid and blend until smooth. Add remaining liquid and blend until smooth and creamy. To cook, put 1 ounce butter in an oven proof dish and heat in oven at 400 degrees until very hot. Pour in batter and bake until well risen. Serve at once with beef or as a sweet with jam or syrup sauce.
