CHICKEN NOODLE BAKE | |
1/2 lb. wide egg noodles 1 1/4 c. butter 1 1/4 c. milk 2 tbsp. flour 1/4 tsp. pepper 1 tsp. salt 1 can chicken gravy 2 c. diced cooked chicken 2 tbsp. pimento 1/2 c. bread crumbs 1/2 c. American cheese Cook noodles in large amount salted water and drain. Add 2 tablespoons butter and 1/4 cup milk. Melt 1/4 cup butter, blend in flour, salt, and pepper. Add remaining 1 cup milk. Cook quickly, stirring until thick. Add 2 cups diced, cooked chicken, gravy, pimento, and noodles; mix and spread into a 9 x 13 x 2 inch baking dish. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Then mix 1/2 cup fine bread crumbs, 2 tablespoons melted butter, and 1/2 cup American cheese to make topping. Sprinkle over casserole and bake for 10 more minutes. |
