2 sticks butter
1 1/2 c. powdered sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar

Cream sugar and butter. Add egg, vanilla, then dry ingredients. Tear off 3 sheets of wax paper; divide dough into thirds and roll up and place in refrigerator until cold. Slice cold dough; place on cookie sheet and bake at 375 degrees until light brown.
