3 3/4 c. cane sugar 1 1/2 c. white Karo syrup 1 c. water 1 tsp. oil flavoring Food coloring Powdered sugar Heavy aluminum foil Fold sides of foil up 1/2 to 1 inch on all 4 sides. Sprinkle powdered sugar, covering foil paper. Mix sugar, syrup, and water in heavy saucepan. Cook on medium to high heat, stirring until mixture boils. Place candy thermometer in mixture. Let cook, without stirring, until 300 degrees (hard crack stage). Remove from heat. Add oil flavoring and food coloring. Stir good and quickly. Pour onto tray made of foil paper. When cooked, break into pieces. Store in air-tight container. |
