SHORTCAKE 
2 c. flour
3/4 tsp. salt
3 tsp. baking powder
1/4 c. sugar
1/3 c. Crisco
1/2 c. milk
1 egg, beaten

Mix dry ingredients together. Cut in Crisco fine. Combine milk and beaten egg and add to flour mixture, mixing to a soft dough. Knead lightly about 20 seconds. Roll dough on floured board to 3/4 inch thickness. Cut with biscuit cutter and place on baking sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Split warm shortcake; spoon on sweetened berries and top with whipped cream.
