1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. soft butter
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
4 tbsp. milk
4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
Dash salt

Cream butter and sugar. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Add dry ingredients and milk alternately. Roll about 1/4 inch thick on floured surface. Cut into shapes with floured cookie cutters. Bake on greased cookie sheets at 325 degrees about 11-15 minutes. This recipe depends on real butter and minimal handling. Frost and decorate as desired.
