MOM'S FRIED CABBAGE WITH BEEF
AND RICE
 
1 medium head of cabbage
2 cups rice (not prepared)
1 large onion, diced
1 lb. ground beef (ground chuck)
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 tsp. pepper
2 tbsp. butter
soy sauce, to taste

Brown ground beef, garlic and onions in dutch oven, drain and set aside. Prepare 2 cups rice in separate pan. Cut Cabbage into quarters and remove core, slice cabbage, place cabbage in Dutch oven with butter and cook until done. Add all ingredients together heating until warm, add soy sauce to taste.

This is very good on a cold winter night. Recipe was a childhood favorite.

I felt that this meal was incredibly versatile. It has a wonderful base of ingredients. I changed ground beef to turkey, added coconut oil, Caribbean jerk seasoning, chile flakes, sugar, thyme, rubbed sage, ground nutmeg. Absolutely delicious!! Thank You!!
