DOUBLE APPLE BARS 
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/4 c. butter (room temperature)
1/2 c. plus 2 tbsp. brown sugar
1 lg. egg
1 c. applesauce
2 c. diced raw apples
1 1/2 c. nuts, chopped

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Grease a 9 x 13 inch pan. Mix flour, cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda and cloves. Beat butter and 1/2 cup sugar in bowl until fluffy. Beat in eggs, then applesauce (mixture will look crumbly), stir in flour mixture until blended. Fold in apples and 1/2 cup nuts. Spread in pan.

In a small bowl mix remaining nuts and 2 tablespoons brown sugar, sprinkle over batter in pan. Bake 35 minutes.
