APPLE BARS 
8 whole apples, peeled and slice
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
2 1/2 c. flour
2 tbsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. shortening
2 whole eggs, separated
2/3 c. milk
1 c. or more cornflakes
Powdered sugar

Mix and let stand apples, sugar and cinnamon. Make dough with flour, sugar, salt, shortening and 2 egg yolks. Mix with milk to make 2/3 cup. Grease cookie sheet (10 x 15 inch). Roll half of dough to form bottom crust on cookie sheet. Spread cornflakes, slightly crushed, over crust, then apple mixture over cornflakes. Roll out other half of dough for top crust. First pat some of butter on apples before top of dough. Beat 2 egg whites until foamy and spread over crust. Cut some holes like a pie. Bake at 400 degrees for 30 minutes or until brown. Frost with powdered sugar and a little hot water. Makes 36 servings.
