GRANDMA'S GINGERBREAD | |
1/2 c. butter 1/2 c. sugar 1 well-beaten egg 1/2 c. molasses 1 1/2 c. flour 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/4 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. ginger 1/2 c. hot (not boiling) water Cream butter with sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg and molasses; mix well. Sift dry ingredients together. Add alternately with hot water. Bake in 350 degree oven for about 35 minutes in a 9 x 9 inch pan. Serve hot with butter or serve cool with whipped cream or ice cream. |
