GRANDMA'S STUFFED GREEN PEPPERS 
4 lg. green peppers
1 sm. onion
1 tbsp. shortening
1 lb. hamburger
1/2 c. uncooked rice
1 (46 oz.) can tomato juice
1 cube vegetable bouillon
Garlic salt
Celery salt
Salt and pepper

Cut off tops of 4 green peppers. Pour boiling water over peppers. Let stand 30 minutes. Drain. Chop one small onion and the tops of the peppers. Put in pan with one tablespoon shortening. Let simmer for 10 minutes.

Add one pound hamburger. Let cook 10 more minutes. Add 1/2 cup uncooked rice. Mix well. Put in a casserole dish. Put garlic salt, celery salt, salt and pepper in tomato juice, then pour over peppers. Put in slow oven for 2 hours.

Did you use jarred tomato juice, V8, or juice from fresh tomatoes?

I ask because the seasoning seems sparse, and I love V8 for its low salt and high flavor -- but as a drink, not as an ingredient.
