AL'S LENTIL SOUP 
In large soup kettle, saute:

1 c. chopped onion
1 c. diced carrots
1/2 clove garlic, minced

Add:

6 c. cold water
4 c. beef broth
1/2 c. tomato paste
2 c. diced raw potatoes
1 1/2 c. dry lentils
1 tsp. salt
2 whole cloves
2 bay leaves

Simmer 1 1/2 hours.

Add:

2 tbsp. red wine vinegar
2 c. sliced smoked turkey sausage

Simmer 1/2 hour. REMOVE BAY LEAF BEFORE SERVING.
