THUMBPRINT COOKIES 
1 egg yolk
1/2 c. butter
1/4 c. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. flour, sifted
1/4 tsp. salt
Jelly or jam

Cream butter with sugar. Add egg yolk and rest of ingredients and mix well. Make balls and bake for 5 minutes at 375 degrees then push thumb in center of each cookie. Bake for 5 minutes longer and take from oven when slightly brown. Fill center impression with jelly or jam.
