BREAD AND BUTTER PICKLES 
4 qts. sliced unpealed cucumbers
6 white onions, sliced
2 green peppers, chopped
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1/3 c. salt
Kosher salt
Chopped ice

SYRUP:

5 c. sugar
3 c. vinegar
1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
2 tbsp. mustard seed

Mix together: cucumbers, onions, green pepers, cloves garlic and salt. Cover above vegetables with salt and chopped ice and let stand 3 hours. Drain off liquid and cover with syrup mixture. Bring syrup to boil, add vegetables and heat through. Fill pint jars and process 20 minutes. Hot water bath.
