Just so happening to come across this recipe put me in mind of my long since deceased down home Southern Mama's renowned lemon pound cake. Delicious enough to barter for vet bills, etc., alas alack the recipe did not survive her. Many family and friend folk have tried unsuccessfully to bring it back to life. Inheriting no whiz bang culinary talents, I will have my partner give it a try in hopes of tasty memories lighting the corner of not only my mind but also orphaned taste buds. I made this cake for many years from memory. My husband asked me to make it for a group of retired gentelmen at our church. I knew the ingedients, but wasn't real sure of quantities. After much searching, I finally found what I was looking for. I thought I was going to have to "wing it". This is such a refreshing cake, I know these men will love it. Thank you!!

I remember the recipe taped inside of the cupboard growing up. It's a family favorite! I'm always asked to make it. I know the recipe from heart as well. It's such a delicious and refreshing dessert.
