1 1/2 c. flour 3 tbsp. cocoa 1 tsp. baking soda 1 c. sugar 1/2 tsp. salt 5 tbsp. cooking oil 1 tbsp. vinegar 1 tsp. vanilla Grease a 9"x9"x2" baking pan. Mix all dry ingredients well and pour into the pan. Make 3 "well" or holes in the dry ingredients. Pour each of the liquid ingredients into a different hole. Pour 1 cup of warm water over the top. Mix up the whole mess. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes, or until tests done in center. Cool 10 to 15 minutes. BROILED FROSTING: 4 tbsp. softened butter 2/3 c. brown sugar 2 tbsp. cream or milk 1 c. shredded coconut Mix all ingredients well. Spread on the warm cake. Place 8 to 10 inches from broiler for 5 to 10 minutes, or until frosting bubbles and starts to brown. This makes a very rich, German chocolate type cake. From the "I Hate To Cook Book". |
