MOON CAKES 
1/2 lb. sweet butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 c. cake flour
8 eggs, separated
1 tbsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. walnuts, finely ground

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Cream butter till light and fluffy. Add sugar slowly and cream. Add egg yolks and vanilla. Add sifted flour and baking powder. Beat egg whites and fold into batter.

Pour into 9 x 13 inch pan and sprinkle with ground walnuts.

Bake in preheated oven for 35-40 minutes. Cut in moon shape while still hot using a tin can with end cut out (soup can size) overlapping cuts to make moon shape.
