HAMBURGER/SAUSAGE SOUP 
1 lb. lean ground beef
1 lb. Polish sausage (Hillshire sausage with cheddar cheese in it)
1/2 tsp. seasoning salt
1/4 tsp. leaf oregano
1/4 tsp. leaf basil
1 env. dried onion soup mix (1 1/2 oz.)
6 c. boiling water
1 can (16 oz.) whole tomatoes
1 tbsp. soy sauce
1 c. sliced celery
1/4 c. chopped celery leaves
1 c. sliced carrots
1/3 c. dried split peas
1 sm. pkg. elbow macaroni, optional

In skillet, brown ground beef and sausage; drain well. Place meat in crockpot. Add seasonings, herbs, and onion soup mix. Stir in boiling water, tomatoes, and soy sauce. Add celery, celery leaves, carrots, and split peas to meat mixture. Mix well. Cover and cook on low setting 8 to 16 hours (or on high setting 4 to 5 hours).

1 hour before serving, add macaroni and turn to high setting Serve with Parmesan cheese, if desired.
