FISH HOUSE PUNCH | |
1 1/2 lb. sugar 2 qt. lemon juice (scant) 4 qt. Jamaica rum 2 qt. cognac 1 c. peach brandy Dissolve sugar in the smallest possible amount of cold water, then stir in the strained lemon juice. Pour this mixture over a large solid lump of ice, then add the rum, cognac and peach brandy, in that order. Allow mixture to mellow for several hours, giving it an occasional stir. Of course, this can be simply cut in half for a smaller group. It is the specialty of Philadelphia's famed fishing and social club, and it is still the members' custom with the first drink to toast the "late George Washington". |
