CABBAGE PATCH STEW 
1/2 lb. ground beef
2 med. onions, chopped
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1 c. shredded cabbage
1/2 c. diced celery
1 can Great Northern beans
1 c. cooked or fresh tomatoes
3/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. chili powder
Hot mashed potatoes

Over medium heat, brown meat and remove all drippings. Add onions, cabbage, and celery and cook 5 minutes. Add water to cover (about 2 cups); simmer 15 minutes. Add beans, tomatoes and seasonings and cook 20 to 25 minutes. Adjust seasonings. Serve in bowls topped with spoonful of mashed potato. 6 servings. Substitute kidney beans or pinto beans, if desired.
