CORN WAFFLES 
1 c. self-rising cornmeal
1 c. self-rising flour
3 tbsp. shortening, melted
1 tbsp. sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 c. milk

Mix sugar, egg and milk; add to the meal and flour. Stir until smooth. Add melted shortening, mixing thoroughly. Bake in preheated waffle iron.
