IRISH SODA BREAD 
4 c. white flour
1 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. buttermilk or sweet milk

Rub butter into flour. Add salt and soda. Mix all together well by running dry ingredients through your fingers. Add milk, stir into soft dough with a wood spoon and with floured hands knead lightly into a soft ball, turn on a lightly floured baking sheet. Flatten dough 1 1/2 inches thick with palm of your hand. Make a cross in center with floured knife. Bake at 425 degrees for 30 minutes.
