MERINGUE COOKIES | |
3 egg whites 1/8 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar 3/4 c. sugar 6 oz. chocolate morsals 3/4 c. nuts Beat egg whites in a large bowl. When foamy, add salt and cream of tartar, when stiff beat in sugar. Stir in chocolate and nuts. Drop batter by teaspoonful onto a cookie sheet lined with a buttered wax paper, dusted with flour. Baked in a preheated 200 degree oven for at least 1 hour. Shut off oven and let cookies dry several hours or overnight. Makes about 7 dozen. Variation: 8 ounces M & M's with peanuts instead of chocolate and nuts. |
