BEEF PATTIES WITH TOMATO CHEESE
TOPPING
 
1 1/2 lb. ground beef
1/2 c. soft or dry bread crumbs
3/4 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
1 egg, beaten
1 1/2 tbsp. prepared mustard
6 slices onion
6 slices American cheese
1 can tomato soup, undiluted

Combine meat, crumbs, salt and pepper and egg. Shape into 6 patties. Place in a 9 x 13 pan. Spread patties with mustard (optional). Place 1 slice onion and 1 slice cheese on top of each patty. Bake 35 to 40 minutes at 400 degrees. Serves 6.

We like to do baked potatoes at the same time and use the tomato- cheese sauce on the meat and the potatoes.
