HONEY PASTRY 
1 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
4 egg yolks
3 c. flour
1 pinch salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
3/4 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 can of your favorite pie filling
4 egg whites
3 tbsp. sugar
Chopped walnuts (optional)

Cream together sugar, shortening and egg yolks. Sift together flour, salt, baking powder and soda. Add flour mixture to creamed mixture alternately with milk and vanilla. Spread dough onto baking sheet. Spread with pie filling.

Beat together egg whites and sugar until stiff. Spread over pie filling and, if you desire, top with chopped nuts. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes or until golden brown.
