GRANDMA'S GINGERBREAD 
2 eggs
1/2 c. shortening
1 tbsp. ginger
1 c. buttermilk or sour milk
1 c. brown sugar
2 3/4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. molasses
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon, allspice or cloves

Beat eggs. Add sugar and mix well. Add molasses. Melt shortening and mix together. Sift flour and dry ingredients, then add alternately with buttermilk. Lastly, add soda dissolved in 1 tablespoon warm water. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes.
