SOUR CREAM COOKIES 
1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
2 1/2 c. flour, sifted
2/3 c. chopped walnuts
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. thick sour cream
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream the shortening and sugar. Add eggs. Mix well. Sift dry ingredients (about one third of the dry ingredients) into mixture, and alternate with the sour cream until both are used up. Add vanilla and nuts and blend. Drop by teaspoonfuls on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for about 12 minutes. This makes 6 dozen cookies. Frost with icing of a simple white variety or serve plain.
