HOME STYLE CORN BREAD 
2 eggs
7 tbsp. sugar (1/2 c. + 1 tbsp.)
2 c. buttermilk
1/2 c. melted shortening (Crisco)
1 tsp. salt
2 c. flour
2 c. yellow cornmeal
4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda

Put eggs and sugar in a bowl and beat until well mixed. Add hot melted shortening and buttermilk. Sift dry ingredients together and add cornmeal. Mix with liquid until just moistened. Bake in a Pyrex pan at 425 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes.
