CHERRY WINKS 
3/4 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. walnuts or pecans, chopped
1 c. dates, chopped
1/3 c. maraschino cherries, chopped
2 1/2 c. cornflakes
Maraschino cherries, cut in fourths

Blend shortening and sugar; add eggs, milk, vanilla, and beat well. Blend in mixed dry ingredients and mix thoroughly. Add chopped nuts, dates, cherries and mix well. Shape dough into balls using rounded teaspoon of dough. Crush cornflakes and roll each ball in it. Slightly flatten while putting on greased cookie sheet. Top each cookie with 1/4 maraschino cherry. Bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes.
