I follow the recipe using Macintosh apples because we like soft apples in a dish like this and substitute a sweet apple cider for the water.

Sooooooooo good :) I used 4 tablespoons of sugar and 2 tablespoons of cinnamon and I added a tablespoon of brown sugar to the water. Definitely needed the extra sugar otherwise I don't think it would have been sweet enough. Will make it again!

Great recipe. I cut apples into 8 slices & each crescent roll in 1/2 making 16 crescent rolls. Put cinnamon/sugar in bag & shook apples in mixture. Then I wrapped each slice in crescent roll. Still mixed cinnamon w/ water mixture & poured over. Baked about 25 minutes then drizzled a glaze over. This makes recipe go farther. Everyone loved it. Will definitely make again.

I made a recipe very similar to this in my cooking class in school and it was really good. I wanted to make the apple dumplings for a dessert for my thanksgiving dinner with my family, but i couldn't remember the exact measurements, so i checked here. In reviewing the recipe, i noticed there were a few differences. In school, i brushed a light coat of butter on the dough after i laid it out on the cookie sheet. Also, in school i covered the apple slices in an apple glaze before putting it in the sugar, cinnamon mix. The cooking time was also shorter. I was about 12 to 15 minutes. So there must have also been another difference in the recipe to make the cooking time shorter. I cant wait to see how they turn out! Happy thanksgiving!

I had 2 red apples I need to do something with before they went bad. Found this recipe and decided it would work with red apples as well as green. I also cut the apples thin so they would cook, then after they cooled down, I drizzled powdered sugar mixed with milk over them. My man loved them.

This is a great recipe. Using crescent roll dough instead of standard pie crust dough is a great shortcut. I baked for 22 minutes since the dough was already browned at that point as much as I thought it would take. I used some apple juice instead of water. I doubt it would have been sweet enough having used just water. Would have liked the apples to be a little more done but I will make the slices thinner next time to achieve that.
