STEWED OKRA 
4 strips bacon
2 lbs. okra, cut into 1/2 to 1/4 inch pieces
1 onion, sliced
Salt and pepper
1 can tomatoes, chopped (14 oz.)

Fry bacon in large skillet. Remove bacon and set aside.

Fry okra in bacon drippings about 5 minutes. Add onion and fry another 5 minutes. Salt and pepper. Add tomatoes and blend well.

Simmer 20 to 30 minutes until most of liquid has evaporated. Serve plain or over rice. Garnish with crumbled bacon.
