OATMEAL CAKE 
1 1/4 c. boiling water
1/2 c. butter
1 c. rolled oats (quick or reg.)
1 c. white sugar
1 c. packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 1/3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix water, butter and oatmeal. Stir and let stand 20 minutes. Add sugars and eggs. Beat until blended. Add sifted dry ingredients and vanilla. Mix well. Bake in 9x13 pan greased and floured, 350 F, 35-40 minutes.

TOPPING:

3/4 c. packed brown sugar
6 tbsp. butter
2 tbsp. milk or cream
1 - 1 1/2 c. coconut
1 c. chopped nuts

Cook on stove, bring to a boil. Spread on warm cake. Put under broiler until lightly browned.
