DUTCH APPLE CAKE
CRUST:

1 1/4 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. softened butter (butter works better than butter)
1 egg yolk
2 tbsp. milk
5 apples, peeled, cored, cut into eighths

Sift the dry ingredients together. Add the butter and blend well. Combine the egg yolk and milk, and stir into the other ingredients. Spread and pat evenly on the bottom and up the sides of 9x9 or 8x10 inch pan.

5 apples, peeled, cored and cut in eighths. Lay the apples in three rows on top of the crust, filling in any empty spaces.

TOPPING:

3/4 c. sugar
1 1/2 tbsp. flour
2 tbsp. melted butter
1 tsp. cinnamon

Mix together and sprinkle on top of the apples. Bake 375 degrees until apples are tender, about 40 minutes.
