HERMAN BREAD 
Starter - 3/4 c. sugar
To feed - 3 tbsp. instant flaked potatoes and 1 c. warm water (tap)

Let stand out of refrigerator for 8 to 12 hours or overnight. Take out 1 cup starter to make bread. Mix sugar, potatoes, and water. Add to starter. Place in refrigerator. Keep in refrigerator 3 days, then feed again. If not making bread, throw away 1 cup starter.

HERMAN BREAD:

6 c. bread flour
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 c. starter
1/2 c. corn oil
1 1/2 c. tap water

Mix all ingredients by hand in large bowl. Put dough in greased bowl. Let stand 8 to 12 hours. Punch down. Knead lightly. Divide into 3 or 4 parts. Knead each part in floured surface, 8 to 10 times. Put in greased loaf pans. Brush with oil. Cover lightly with oiled wax paper. Let dough rise 8 hours. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes. Remove from pan at once and brush with melted butter. Eat or freeze.
