NUTTY DOUGHNUT BALLS 
2 c. sifted flour
1/4 c. sugar
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
1 egg, beaten
1/2 c. milk
1 tsp. grated orange peel
1/4 c. orange juice
1/4 c. Crisco, melted
1/2 c. coarsely chopped pecans
Crisco for deep frying

In mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, 1 teaspoon salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Combine the egg, milk, orange peel, juice and 1/4 cup melted Crisco. Stir into dry ingredients until moistened. Stir in pecans. Drop by teaspoonfuls into deep Crisco heated to 365 degrees and fry until doughnuts are brown, about 3 minutes, turning once. Drain on paper toweling. Roll in sugar, if desired. Makes about 30.
