1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
4 1/2 c. plain flour
1 c. nuts, chopped
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 (1 lb.) pkg. orange slice candy, cut into sm. pieces
4 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 box dates, chopped
1 can coconut

Dust nuts, dates and candy with 1/2 cup of flour. Cream shortening, sugar, and eggs. Cream in buttermilk. Add all dry ingredients, flour, salt and soda. Then add coconut, nuts, dates and candy. Bake in tube pan 2 1/2 hours at 250 degrees.

GLAZE:

1 c. orange juice
2 c. powdered sugar

Mix and spoon over hot cake.
