ORANGE MINT DRINK | |
2 1/2 c. water 2 c. sugar Juice of 2 oranges and grated rinds Juice of 6 lemons 2 handfuls mint leaves Make syrup of sugar and water, boiling for 10 minutes after sugar dissolves. Add fruit juices and grated rind. Pour over mint leaves, slightly crushed. Cover tightly and let stand at least an hour or longer. Strain through a sieve, then through a thickness of cloth. Should be clear, rich juice. Makes 1 quart of syrup. Cover and keep in refrigerator indefinitely or freeze. To serve: Fill glass with crushed ice and put approximately 1/4 cup of syrup over it and finish filling glass with water or ginger ale. Makes approximately 12 tall glasses. Be sure to use crushed ice. |
