CHOPPED STEAK 
1 lb. ground beef
1 egg
1 end piece of loaf bread
1/4 c. grated carrot (grated fine)
Salt
Pepper
4 slices bacon
Toothpicks

Shred bread into very small pieces in a bowl. Add egg. Mix with a fork well. Add grated carrots. Mix as you would for meat loaf. Divide into 4 balls and patty out. Put 1 strip of bacon around each patty. Use toothpicks to hold in place. Place on rack (small grill). Put rack on top of a biscuit pan with a little water in it. This is to catch drippings. Broil for 5 to 7 minutes, turn over and broil other side for 3 to 5 minutes.
