HERB BREAD | |
1 pkg. dried yeast 1 c. warm water (110 degrees) 1 1/2 tsp. salt 2 tsp. sugar 1 tbsp. soft butter 3/4 tsp. crushed dill weed 1/2 tsp. crushed rosemary 2 1/2 c. flour Poppy or sesame seeds (to sprinkle on top of baked bread) In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in water, add salt, sugar and butter. Add flour and herbs; mix well. Add up to 1/2 cup flour as needed in order to knead it into a dough for about 5 minutes. Cover and let stand in a warm place for it to rise and double in size, about 1 1/2 hours. Form dough into 2 oblong loaves and place into 2 oiled baking pans, 4"x7"x2". Brush with water and let it rise another hour. Brush again and sprinkle tops with seeds. Bake in preheated 425 degree oven about 25 to 30 minutes, until a golden brown color. Cool, serve sliced. |
